Dan has spent the last 15 years of his career working with, and investing in, growing technology companies.
Prior to joining the Cove Hill founding team, Dan was a member of the senior investment team at Insight Venture Partners, a growth equity firm focused on software, Internet, and data services companies. At Insight, Dan focused on application software and SaaS investments across a variety of horizontal and vertical markets. He served on the Boards of six Insight portfolio companies and took an active role training and mentoring the firm’s analyst team.
Outside of work, Dan likes to travel, eat, and spend time outdoors with his wife and kids. He is a proud Tennessee native and a big fan of his hometown Predators, Titans, and Commodores. He aspires one day to be a good cook.

What is the most interesting book you have read recently?
I loved both The Box (about the invention of containerized shipping) and The Great A&P (about the grocery chain) by Marc Levinson. Both are fascinating economic histories and helped me think about building businesses better.
What is your favorite thing to cook to impress guests?
Not sure it’s impressive, but we got a small pizza oven in our back yard. We’re still perfecting the craft of making great pizza, but it’s fun to have people over and try different flavors. Plus, my son will reliably eat pizza, which isn’t really true of any other food group. Good way to sneak some vegetables into the kid.
What do you do in your free time outside of work?
I have a 5-year-old and a 3-year-old. I have a distant memory of free time but have not had any recently!
Education
Dan graduated from Princeton University with an A.B. in Political Economy and a Certificate in Environmental Science, summa cum laude.
